Should We or Shouldn't We??

Our Bama Belle is 12 weeks old and her dam and sire are both registered. She is the first purebred dog we have ever owned. I was just wondering if we should go ahead and send in her AKC registration application even though we plan to have her spade when she is 6 months old? We have no interest in breeding her and there is no doubt that she will remain with our family for as long as she lives. Should we send in the AKC application anyway and have her registered?
Thanks! I hope this wasn't a dumb question -- like I said, we've never had a purebred dog before.
P.S. Exactly what does "flashy" brindle Boxer mean? Is "flashy" a different kind of brindle?

If you ever think you may want to do some obedience, agility, tracking or one of your kids would want to do Jr. Showmanship, then you would want to get her registered. Spayed or neutered dogs can compete in all of the above. If you never plan on it, then you really don't need to register her. If you are not sure, then I would go ahead and send the paperwork in.

Flashy brindle means that she has white markings on her face (and maybe legs, neck, chest etc). A plain/classic brindle may have a little white on their chest and feet, but that is it.

So, it is all about the white markings.

Just a note, I thought I didn't need to send in the paper work for my girl, for the very same reasons you have, now two years later I am thinking of entering in some competitions and I have to pay a $65 late fee to register her with the AKC....

So better to just do it now and have it - just in case, then to decide later you want it and have to pay extra....imagine how many toys you could buy with the extra $65 dollars :)

I think I will!

You just made up my mind for me. lol
Thanks for your reply. I'll get the registration papers mailed off this week. I have a feeling we just may want to enter some "rally" competitions if nothing else. I would even like to think we could do some agility" stuff later too. Time will tell, but, we WILL be registered if it goes that far.
