My hubby and I are thinking of getting another beagle. We have a beagle and a boxer now. We are so torn. Money is not an issue, but this does mean that we may have to put off a few new house projects such as expanding our patio, landscaping our yard, rugs and furniture, etc. We want one because we love dogs and want to open our home to another. They give more love, provide another playmate to the beagle and boxer. We just aren't sure if we are doing it for the right reasons. We found a breeder that we like with a puppy available. We aren't worried about training; it's not that bad and worth it in the long run. But are we being selfish? Would a third dog upset the balance in the household? Our current two are female, and we would get a male.

Need advice, PLEASE!!!!

Hello!
I am no expert...we had 3 dogs. (one passed away)
I was so amazed at the degree in which things have calmed down with just 2 dogs. We have decided to stick with 2.

Good Luck!:) I am sure you will hear opinions leaning either way.

If you have the time, space, money and time to train. I say go for it. We currently have 4 dogs and love it. Not everyone is the same though.

Hey, second thoughts are not allowed!!!;) Here is my take on the Beagle, they are such high maintanence dogs (worth it no doubt, just look at those eyes after he destroys the remote) But like Boxers uneducated poeple take them into their home, and then decide that the dog is not their cup of tea, (that is how I got the Zukster) You already know what you are setting yourself up for, and love the breed, give the pup a GOOD forever home, you know you want to!! Besides you will have to put off those projects until the demon is potty trained anyways!! I know if I could I would get a 2nd Boxer, I just don't really have the room for one. Ultimatley you and your family will have to make the decision, but me thinks those puppy eyes will win out!!:D

It sounds to me like you are doing it for exactly the right reasons. If love and companionship aren't the right reasons then I don't know what are! I say go for it!!! :D

I have a male boxer, a female mixed breed and a female Bichon Frise, and it's been going really well for us. :) If you really think you have the time, space and money to care for 3 dogs, then go for it! :D

We have a boxer and a rottweiller and temporarily re-homed another collie-cross after a friend's marriage broke up. We were SO glad to re-home the collie-cross. 2 is definitely enough for us. Bringing another dof into the house really upset the 'pack' and unnerved our boxer and rottie. We would not introduce another dog again. But I am sure that many people have positive experiences of having 3.
