We are supposed to go back to the U.S. soon and I was just informed about a woman who is trying to get her Boxer adopted for some reason or another!

I really want to get another boxer and this opportunity sort of just found me! I don't know what to do I know I could always take her and Pay for her to come back with me but the cost is an issue!

Please give me your opinions....

How much does it cost to ship a pet?

I am just curious now because I am AD Navy and will be up for orders in the next year. I have been looking at possibly going overseas for my next tour. I know that you have to get health cert. and pay for the airline shipping of your pet, then boarding until you move in to your new home and possible quarintine. Does it cost more to move them back state side? I hope everything goes well for you if ya'll get the new boxer.

Shipping costs depend on how the dog goes. You are going to pay less if you get them on a flight with you then if you have to ship them seperatly through a company such as pet air. If you happen to have to fly on a military flight they have a two pet limit (though they do have a thing where you can put other pets down for space A but it is not guaranteed and you might have to ship them through a shipping company) and pet and kennel can only weigh 150lbs at the most.
We will be leaving Germany next year to go to Kentucky I looked into it and Peanut and his kennel will cost us $180 on a military flight. THey go by weight. I have no idea how much on a civilian one. Plus if you end up having to ship through Pet Air it could cost you a ton. We shipped our American Eskimo (who has since passed) from Germany to Oregon to be with the kids and I when we went home and it cost us $500.
Oh and almost 4 years ago it cost us about $250 to fly the american eskimo to Germany. That was one civiliain flight from Colorado to Atlanta and then a MAC flight from Atlanta to Germany.

It depend's! 1st of all you have to have a health cert at the most ten days old and a rabies vaccine current or more than 30 days old and you must have it translated into whatever language that would apply Let's say German for my sake

Through a pet shipping company I have heard that it can be in excess of $500 dollars for a larger animal!

If you fly on a military flight they will only allow you to bring 2 pet's and cat's are around $80 as where dog's are around $180! It is cheaper on a military flight but there are restrictions! Some cat's and small dogs can be on the plane with you as your carry on, But this doesn't apply to military flight's! All the fuzzies most go in the cargo hold!

Right now I have 2 cat's (one that is expecting) and 1 dog maybe another on the way! So I don't know what else I can tell you But this is the stuff that I know and have found out! I also know that it is cheaper to ship smaller animals so It really depends on if you are going to use a service! The military flight is a standard rate!

What kinds of animals do you have? I am sure since you are here you probably have a boxer! But I was wondering what else you may have!

Oh yeah And if you do fly with just your dog and you come into germany keep your leash handy because as soon as you get out of the airplane and pick up your monster you can walk him through the terminal! The german's love dogs and you can take them ANYWHERE here... If you feel like eating out go ahead and take your dog, Right into the restaurant! It is the coolest thing about living here!

When I flew back from Germany in 2001 I had 2 dogs and 1 cat. It cost us $100 per animal to fly American Airlines (I would not recommend them - they forgot our animals in Atlanta when we were flying to San Francisco) which I thought was pretty reasonable. It was $25 a piece for their health certificate. We had Sierra when we flew to Germany and got Cheyenne when we were there. We had heard that because Cheyenne was born in Germany that she would have to be quarantined. Not true. There is a quarantine if you are going to Hawaii (3 months) but otherwise, no quarantine. I hope this helps. I think it would definately be worth getting another boxer. I would love to have another one but just cannot have another one where we are at. Besides... Libby is a MoNsTeR all by herself!!

Michelle, thats great that in Germany you can take your dog with you just about every where. I wish it was like that state side. I have two white boxers. You can see their pictures in my gallery if you like.
