If it's muscle pain, with strict rest, he should be feeling better and walking normally within a few days. Of it something more, he will continue to limp. Sometimes they can give thems elves hairline fractures which will not cause them great pain, even when palapted, but can still be serious enough to have to splint of or cast. Keep an eye on him, keep him quite and hopefully he'll be feeling well soon. Also, be sure to not give him any ibuprofen, advil, or tylenol, they are very toxic to dogs.

When Krose was Rocky's age, we would visit the vet almost every other daysmashicon

He used to limp constantly. He is such a goofball, trips himself over and because he was growing, he could not calculate the distances between himself and the car or the couch etc.
When he would start limping, I would give him Rimadyl just to be easy on the pain and the limping, absolutely no running whatsoever, just trips outside for potty and in 2 days, he would be fine;) The next day it would start all over again:rolleyes:

sending fast healing vibes)))))))

Guys, thank you so much for the replies. All the advice is greatly appreciated, and has helped calm me down. Rocky is no longer limping but he continues to bear weight on one leg, rather than both. I never thought about how difficult it could be to keep him still! smashicon

I never realized just how curious he was until I was trying to keep him in one place. e normally follows both me and my mom around, just so he knows where we're at. Poor pup, he was going crazy in my room not knowing where my mom was.

I just hope he gets better soon :(

You should start thinking about arthritis now. It can start at any age.

The arthritis in my baby started, I know now, when he was only a puppy. He really rough houses when he plays in the woods with his friends and always has and he got very stiff back legs sometimes in the evenings. Unfortunately the vet at the time said it was nothing, just a bit of strain from too much jumping about. I now realise it was the arthritis starting up.

Keep a really close eye on this, if I had known this 2 years ago Conker would probably not have developed such bad arthritis.
Hope it's nothing in your case

Eva just did this last week! We woke up (she sleeps in our bed) and she was limping. I called the vet and got an appointment that morning. She stopped before the appt so I cancelled it. It started up again just a little bit. We carried her and tried to make her rest. The next day she was fine and only limped for seconds a few times that day. By the third day, no limping and she was all better. I kept wondering how she hurt herself. They run around like crazy all of the time and this is the first time she was ever slightly hurt! I found out over the weekend. I had rearranged some furniture so that I could put the Xmas tree in the window. I was laying on the couch that I moved, watching a movie. Eva came flying from the kitchen, over the back of the couch and landed in the middle of the livingroom! I was shocked. It was amazing.

He's ok now

Rocky is fine, the day after I posted this thread he stopped limping :p

I took him to the vet on Monday because I noticed a little red rash looking thing on his paw and I mentioned to the vet about the limping. He said it shouldn't be anything to worry about, it was probably just a muscle strain, but that if I notice any kind of stiffness or limping on the same leg then I should bring him in to r/o arthritis. Other than that he has been doing just fine, running around like the nut he is and digging up holes in by back patio smashicon

Thanks for your concerns! ;)
