I was looking to rescue a boxer and the lady that runs the rescue is coming to see if my house is suitable ( which it is i already have a boxer ) for a boxer ! I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestion ( on if i am blessed with recieveing a rescue ) how to make him feel more at ease and comfortable to the home ?? Also if anyone has had any expierience in receiving a rescue what was it like and how did everything work out ?? My little furry baby Aurora should be excited ( 7 months ) she always loves to play with other dogs ( shes really great with them and playfull) ! So if you've gotten any storys to tell about rescues ( good or bad ) please share i would love to hear about them !!

How did your inspection go? I am so impressed by people like yourself who are willing to do this. I don't have any tips to offer but am wishing you the best of luck. I would love to hear how its going if you got your new baby!

PARENTS OF A WONDERFUL RESCUE GIRL

When we were searching for our missing puppy, we came across a beautiful 3 year old white boxer in our local animal shelter. She was very thin, drawn, paranoid and had heartworms. She had already been there much longer than they usually allow, because everyone working there loved her. We couldn't help but adopt her. (Our shelter had the funds to send her for heartworm treatment, but she needed some home to recouperate in.) Our 4 year old female brindle boxer had contracted heartworms and was to receive the treatment anyway. When we brought her home, she immediately went for the couch and I knew right away that she had been someones friend and probably had been separated from them somehow. She spent about three days getting used to us and now after six weeks and in the middle of heartworm treatment, you can't tell she hasn't been with us always. She got along beautifully with our other dog right from the start and they have been great companions through the treatment. We are optimistic about a long and healthy friendship with our new girl. I am so glad we found her before it was too late.

Our girls wish you luck in whatever you decide and want to tell you they are happy with what we decided.

Boxer Insane
We adopted Baxter from rescue last November. I work in rescue, do home checks, follow up visits, adoption days, and things of that nature so I knew what to expect. If you already have a Boxer that is a big plus. We went to our local rescue to adopt a year and a half old wild male that needed alot of training but came home with our elderly blind boy. It was fate. I just knew when I saw his mug that he had to be mine and he jumped on me and gave me the best boxer hug. We played with both dogs and took the next day to make up our mind. We got the book living with blind dogs to make sure we could provide a safe and happy home for Baxter. We went out to dinner after we left him and we both decided by the end of dinner that Bax was the one. We took Lexi over to meet him first since she is dominant and that went well. Then a few days later we brought him home and it was if they had remembered meeting and took immediately to each other. They scuffle over bones and toys (your usual sibling rivalry) but for the most part it they get along great. I couldn't be happier with our decision and wouldn't hesitate to do it all over again. Wishing you luck on your adoption. Can't wait to hear all about it. Please keep us informed!!
