Should I get a crate or not?

The crates have worked very well for my group. Austin is the only one who has to crate when we are not home. But all three of them can be found sleeping in the crate with the door open when we are home. They really seem to like it. But unless we have an injury, or company they stay out when ever we are home.

My two dogs are very different. Ive had nothing but trouble with Zander using a crate, from the day i brought him home. We even had him on anxiety medication because hed make himself bleed while he was in it. I tried for almost a year, and finally just threw in the towel. almost six months later, The other, Zuki, was a shelter dog. So he was very used to a crate and when I yell at him he runs into it. Two very different dogs. But now that i have them side by side Zander is more comfortable, but he still cant be by himself in one. My advice is this... boxers are very playful curious dogs. Once they learn they can get into something its very hard to break them. I know it seems cruel, but I think it really is safer for my dogs. Im always worried they'll get into the garbage and eat something they cant digest. plastic wrap? aluminum foil? or medications? If i were you and you can get your dog it accept a crate, id do it. definately

initially I didn't want to crate Monkey because after 3 other dogs, I'd never seen or had a reason to. She had a sleep over at grandma's the other day though while I was at work and she crawled inside a big box right beside her cushy bed and went to sleep in there! no blankets or toys or anything. needless to say, we've brought the box home and that's where she sleeps at night now.

I'm in the market for a crate I think. and from what I hear it helps a lot with potty training too

I am housetraining my pup and he is cratetrained. Crate is the best thing we have ever bought for him. But I never crate him more than 3 hours at a time. He goes in freely to sleep, rest and play. I close the door if I am not able to watch/supervise him and he loves the crate. He sleeps there all night long. I put his crate in the kitchen where we are most of the time. It is much easier to housetrain him. The dog should never soil his bed but mine did so I don't know what to say about that, only I should have taken him more times outside.
I know that in the USA or anywhere else (but not in Singapore) they do have a big crate for the size of Boxer and the crate comes with a piece of partition that you can make the crate smaller for the Boxer puppy size.
I am really FOR the crate if you do not abuse it!
Good luck
