I must admit I dont have the nerve to look at the pics for fear I would be left crying all night, but I get the idea from reading all the posts. Kudos to you for standing up for your baby, yourself and her dog. However if it would have been me she confronted I wouldn't have contained myself, I would have said "no my dog is not fat, you make your dog disgustingly thin by not feeding it." Which would have made things worse in the end, so your way of dealing with her is probably best in this case. Hope things improve for this baby and maybe he can make his way into a loving home (hopefully yours) soon.

she sounds like one of those over zealous moms who starves their kids b/c she thinks they might get fat!
there is def. something not right there!
i mean kneesaa is a skinny minny, she eats like a horse, but runs laps i think to work it all off!!!

Those pics have made me so mad. I commend you for trying to do something and helping this poor dog. My Joe is slim, I can see a few of his ribs (and he eats twice a day with treats/snacks in between) but nothing like that! I mean Joe is tall and slender but this poor baby is malnourished looking. If I saw the lady I would slap her silly and take the boxer away.

Please, please let us know what happens to the baby!!!!!

I just read this thread all the way through. I looked at the pictures. I am sickened. It just breaks my heart that people like that even get to keep animals. Thank you so much for standing up and trying to get this precious baby out of a horrible situation. I am so proud that there are people like you in this world. God put you in the right place at the right time to find, help and rescue this sweet soul.

I read this post a couple days ago but could not view the pictures. Now that I have seen them, I too am appalled at this lady's distorted view of what a healthy boxer (or any dog for that matter) should look like. Several years ago I had a boxer puppy that had parvo (he got it after an irresponsible breeder took him to a horse barn prior to being vaccinated), and he looked just like that after spending a week at that vet's office on IV fluids only. I was afraid to take him anywhere until I could get some weight back on him for fear that someone would think I had neglected him. This past summer George (then 9 mos) was diagnosed with OCD and had bi-lateral shoulder surgery. Even though the vet specifically told me to "keep him thin" to ease the pressure on his joints, I was constantly worried that he was too skinny and he never ever looked even close to that skinny!!!! That poor baby. Please keep us posted on what happens with animal control.

When I saw these pics I got goose bumps up my neck. WHEW! That poor thing! We see dogs that look like this come into rescue. I just don't understand what kind of people would think this dog looked NORMAL??? Farthest thing from it. Let us know what comes of it.

Update to "Shocked & Upset"!

I just got home from the show, where the Boxer who was being mistreated by his owner was SEIZED by animal control right there on the premises. The owner came and sat down in the bleachers near me, with the dog, and I smiled at her and got up and went around the corner, got on the phone and called animal control, who had two officers there within 5 minutes!! They approached her and said they had recieved complaints about the dog, asked why he was so thin, told her it was NOT acceptable for him to look like that and she stated to them she refused to "let him be fat and ugly". I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. They wrote up some sort of document and told her they were taking the dog and she could either sign him over or they would have a uniformed police officer arrive with a warrant to take the dog. So she signed him over protesting the entire time while the AC officers told her she was starving him to death and she kept denying it.

So Bailey is now away from that dreadful woman!! She has the option to try to go to court to get him back but with the way he looks if he gains weight and his health tests show up clean to prove she was indeed starving him, they said there is no way she'll get him back. One of the AC officers had a Boxer so she is keeping him for the time being and will probably be his permanent home!!

A happy ending for all! I hope I run into her again because she probably realizes by now it was me who called, and I hope she confronts me so I can tell her off!
