Hi everybody. I haven't posted here in a while, we got a new addition to our family last night. His name is Tyson and he is a reverse brindle. He's a doll! Well, Abby is going to be 1 next year and she is so excited to have a little brother, almost to excited. How do I get her to calm down? She wont leave him alone even for a minute and I'm really scared that she will hurt him on accident. I know things will calm down after a while, but is there anything I can do to make it easier for her? She loves him so much that I don't think she knows what to do. Any advice would be apprecaited since so many people here have two boxers! Thanks!

I would be sure that the little one has a place to go to get away and relax. Puppies tire out quickly and if he has safe place to call his own to chill it will be great. Cayenne loves all dogs and luckily my Mom's lab pup was able to keep up with her when he got bigger. But for the first few months we just made sure there was no competition for toys or attention and they each had a place to go chill. I cannot wait to see pics!!!

Congrats on the new baby! This seems to be a pretty common problem when introducing boxers. Six month old Hammer would not leave 11 month old Ginger alone for a minute at first. After a month it's getting better! I think time is the only answer, but I'm sure more advice is on the way. :D Good luck!

Dasia was almost a year young when we brought Bianca into the fold when we got Bianca she was 7 weeks. At first Dasia stood over her and pawed and pawed....she wouldnt' hurt her just curious as to what this little white thing was. It was very evident that Dasia wanted to play with Bianca ALL the time..but poor Bianca never had time to take naps because of Dasia carrying on. So our solution is use the crate. Also helped with her potty training.

We let them play together for about 15-20mn took Bianca AND Dasia out to potty then right after that i put Bianca into her crate, of course the crate was anywhere i would be downstairs etc..she would cry for abit but sleep afterwards for about half an hour after this took her out to potty and then play then potty then back in crate for nap...etc etc...

Hope this helps and good luck! :D

Thanks guys. Last night was our second night with our new little guy and it was a little better than the first. He's really coming out of his shell and I think Abby is getting use to him being there. I'm sure they will become the best of friends!:D Thanks for all the advice!

My puppy gets too excited to meet new people! She really goes nuts. It doesn't matter if they're children or adults, smelly or ugly, she just LOVES meeting new people. However, she will scratch, nip and jump all over them if they come down to her level. It's embarassing. How can I get her to be a little more sedate when she goes out in public?

Whenever you or anyone enters a room the dog is in after being out of the house, totally ignore the dog for 5 minutes. It is a lot harder then it sounds. By doing this, the dog will eventually learn not to go bonkers over meeting new people. When in public put your Boxer in a sit and hold the harness/collar so they can not jump up on the person they are meeting. Just takes time and patience.

My pup is MUCH better with this issue, but no where near perfect yet, we just keep working on it.
