Shedding

My boxer is a horrible shedder as of late. She has been on the same diet (Inova) for about 7 months. But the last couple of months her shedding as perpetually gotten worse. She is going bald by any means, as her hair is just as thick as it has ever been, but the shedding is hurrendous.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

Advise from a groomer

Some breeds shed alot more than others and luckily boxers are not the worst but they do shed alot. You can't elliminate it but you can control it. There is a specific brush made for their type of coat. It is a rubber brush. One brand is called a Zoom Groom. You can find them at any pet store. It will also distribute the skins natural oils to enhance the coats shine. Also if you feed her a high quality food that will help. I feed my boy Nutro.

we brush ours with a soft rubber brush every night this time of year. helps out immensely.

My two are shedding like crazy now too. I am thinking they are starting to loose some of their winter coat. We use a rubber brush every other day to brush them and vaccum like crazy to try to keep up with the hair. Some times I think I could make a couple more dogs out just the hair a I brush off of them and vaccum up.

The rubber brush is really geat but I also us a slicker brush, the meatal hoop. I stay away from boney areas but it seems more efective at taking off larger amounts of hair. I then go over a final time with the rubber brush, it has made a big difference in the amount of hair lying around. I also switched to caindae food (I think thats how you spell it) it seems to be helping alot.

I think now they are getting their Summer coat - even though it is still winter here. Ginger's is shedding & her coat is thinner & so silky. I told her it is too soon, it is still freezing out
