shedding

Kilby (3.5yo flashy fawn) doesn't seem to shed much (other than around change of season) but Kona our youngest (1yo brindle) sheds like she should be bald by the end of the day!!! I'm hoping that she's going through a phase.....

Thats what I thought, seems like it depends on the dog, regardless the age, which is what I figured. Like someone said it seems like he should be bald, he sheds alot!

I tried all different type of brushes for dogs that 'shed', and it doesnt help. I am thinking of fish oil, how is that given?

I just buy the fish oil pills for humans, at the grocery store. Two or three daily helps their skin and coat a lot. I just toss it right in with their food. You must also supplement vitamin E if you give fish oil, as fish oil depletes vitamin E.

I give fish oil (1,000mg per 20 pounds) and vitamin E (one 400 IU capsule) daily and it helps a TON with shedding with my 2. I also brush them 1-2 times a week with the Zoom Groom which also helps a ton.

Well I guess I should have looked at some of the other posts before i put up this one because it's the exact same thing, oh well.

A lot of the information on both of them is very helpful and I am going to try to use the Zoom Groom because I always wish I could get more hair off during the bath and it sounds like it works well in or with water. I am also going to get some of the supplements because as it is right now my wife seems to be vacuming in circles around the house to keep the hair up and it's not working.
