shedding or hair falling out?

We rescued Drake on January 22. He has been doing great. He looks healthy and has gained a few pounds. Tonight I noticed that it looks like the hair on the back of his legs has fallen out. He also seems to be shedding. Is this normal? I'm a first time boxer mom and I thought boxers weren't soposed to shed? He has been on CS puppy for a couple of weeks and has had no problem. Does anyone know if this is normal???

I don't know a ton about this subject but i do know that boxers DO shed, haha. Champ sheds a lot more than i thought he would; but i had never had boxers before either. We have this rubbery glove brush that he doesn't mind and we use it when we give him baths and we'll wet it and brush him with it every other day or so. That does seem to help. As far as the losing hair-thing, it could be a number of different things: allergies, mange, or seasonal flank alopecia. You may want to get a skin scrape to rule out mange and then begin looking into the other options. We have Champ on a hypoallergenic diet right now for 2 months because he has had so many skin problems; his problems became noticeable while he was on Chicken Soup adult formula. So we will see how that goes. But maybe yours is just seasonal. Anyway, good luck to ya!!!
