I was curious about shedding and temperature. I had read boxers shed more in the spring and early fall. Tyson has been shedding like crazy lately and I was wondering if it has anything to do with the temperature here in NYC. It has been unseasonably warm lately (we hit almost 70 last week, 65 today), after a pretty normal chilly October. He has some small skin issues (old demodax mange), so he's groomed everyday and bathed 2X per week with medicated shampoo, so I don't think its that.
Could the warmer temperature just be causing him to shed more?
Thanks

I'm no expert, but I believe that could be the cause of it as I have noticed the same thing in my girls the past few weeks. I think it's b/c it got cold here (30's and 40'2) so their winter coats started coming in and then for a few weeks it was warmer (70's).

That makes sense to me! :)

Shedding

I'm not sure but I live in Boston and it has been just as warm as NYC. Jasper has been shedding like crazy my car is covered with his fur. I though it was becasue he is 9 months that it was baby hair. But after reading this I think it was because of the temp.

shedding

Well we live in Arizona and we are almost always sunny. But in the last two or 3 weeks its been warm for us too, scary, (global warming), anyway only one of ours is shedding like crazy. He's a rescue and his first arizona winter with us it made me wonder if it could be because maybe last winter he was outside??? Glad to hear its not completely unheard of at least.
