I am so so sorry for your lose. I went through a similiar situation with my Lilly choking on a rawhide, forunately she was ok. I was lucky enough to be able to grab the end of it with my fingers to dislodge it. But consulting it with my vet I did it all wrong, being bit was the least of my worries I could have lodged it worse which could have cost her life. I truly appreciate you sharing your tragedy. It shows the rest of us that if you haven't already taken a first aid course for our pets, and prepared for an emergency that we should. I hope this inspires everyone to find a first aid course and prevent the loss of another furbabies life.

We are so sorry for your loss! The panic and the feeling of helplessness is terrible! I experienced my two year old daughter choking while we were in our car on a busy highway! I yelled at my husband to pull over that she was choking! I grab her from the back seat and flung the car door open and did the hiemlich on her twice before the candy came out! It was the scariest thing I had ever gone through with my kids! My husband was crying and yelling oh my god you saved her life! You saved her life! But what if I hadn't known how too. I had been to a couple classes and they teach you in school but I had never had to use it. I will never give my puppy bones. thank you for sharing your story with us, it has to be a very heartbreaking time for your family! Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Donna& Sarge

Words are inadequate for comfort right now but I am truly truly sorry for what you, your wife, and your little girl had to go through. Losing a loved one is always very hard but in such a manner as that it leaves lasting scars and memories and guilt. Please don't feel guilty, you had no intention of harming your baby. Please don't feel guilt about not knowing what to do immediately. You did everything you could. I am crying at the sadness of this situation and want to thank you for sharing your story, as hard as it was, so that others may learn from your experience. Someday you will be able to remember her with laughter rather than tears and hopefully when the time is right you can find comfort in another boxer. No dog will ever replace her but they each make their own special place in your heart.
Again, I am truly sorry for your loss.
