Okay, been awhile since I been here. We had to let Sasha go bc she had a very aggressive attitude towards our 4 yr old and had some strong behavior issues. But now we have Roxie:D . Roxie is somewhere around 2 yrs old...still waiting on owners to hand over papers. I happen to be driving to the store when I seen her. An older lady (64) was TRYING very hard to walk her..she is not used to a leash. Anyways to make a long story short the ladys daughter was in a divorce and the husband was very mean to Roxie and daughter didnt have time for her so grandma was watching her til the next morn and they were giving her to the local Sicsa. I stopped and complimented how cute she was and found out they were just giving her away and of course I jumped on the chance.... Roxie is eating Iams...she is very small and you can almost see her skeleton. I have pretty much always fed my Boxers Purina and Bil-jac mixed and they have done well. I was wondering.....I have heard that Wal-mart carry's a brand Old Roy...it has more fat than Iams etc. What do you think?????? Our very first Boxer yrs ago had a small build like Roxy and we tried everything to get her up in weight but nothing really worked. Roxie truly is small I took her to the store and a feew ppl asked if she was a pup. PLEASE any suggestions.

Ol Roy is a horrible food and is also low in calories. You don't neccessarily need a food with more fat ..you just need a food with more calories. Why not try the Bil-Jac on her if that is what you have had success with in the past?

All the foods you've mentioned in your post with the exception of Bil Jac are of very poor quality. They do not have a good source of protein, but rather have nothing but lots of grain fillers. I think that's why you baby isn't getting bigger (assuming she isn't of small frame). You need to find her a food that has real meat or meat by-product as it chief ingrediant and stay away from stuff that has grains in the first 5 ingrediants. Dogs do not digest grains well, and they don't need it... it just goes in and comes right back out, offering no nutriants for the dog...

Good luck.

Lexie is small on wellness

Our girl is little she is almost 1year and 4 months and is a whopping 45 pounds. The vet said she could stand to gain a few but I already feed her more wellness than she is supposed to get. BILL

NO DOGGIE JUNK FOOD

okay , well my question has been answered. NO Ol Roy:mad: . I will stick with the Iams and maybe add some Bil-Jac in. Thanks for the replies. We've only had her 3 days and she's not eating well anyway. I'm sure she is trying to figure out what is going on. They were also feeding her some table scraps here and there. BIG no-no in my home.

gaining weight

We had a simular problem with Leroy. He just wouldn't gain weight. I tried a bunch of different foods - and Annameat stuck. They have a Ultra 32% food that is made for very active dogs (sled dogs specifically). Leroy is active - and sometimes very active, so I think this food has just the right amount of extra calories for our boy. It could be a possibility....

My chloe is 9 months old and only 30 pounds. Our vet and trainer think she is very healthy though. we have tried everything to put more weight on her and nothing has worked. Our trainer calls her a miniature boxer. She is currently eating Canidae.
