Keaton is kinda stinky and needs a bath but I have been hesitant about it because I don't know what kind of shampoo to use. Does any one have any reccomendations? His foster parents didn't give him many baths. His skin and coat seem pretty normal, but its been a while since he's had a bath and its definitly time. ;) Thanks.

Bob gets a dog shampoo with a product I buy from Origins. Also, did you see the recent thread about Listerine/ Keri Lotion/ Water to spray on/ wipe off - supposedly good for doggie odor?

Bob tends to have dry skin and dandruff so we've cut back on baths - even though he loves them. Joyce P. (with Mo/Kan) suggested using a little olive oil in his food for that. It helps but can't use too much or else we end up with gastrointestinal issues

BTW: So glad you adopted Keaton! We have had Bob for about 2 months and are hoping to find a sister for him soon.

I use EarthBath products and am very pleased with them.

The Mango Tango smells fantastic!! I was using the Oatmeal/Aloe and the Tea Tree/Aloe because of some itchy skin - that seems to have been resolved, so I'll probably use MT the next time.

Don't really have an idea on shampoo but see you are locals. I live in Independence welcome to Boxerworld. A great place for information and sometimes a good laugh with the stories. How old are your Boxers?

Thanks for the info guys!

Julie M -- the Earth Bath stuff sounds great almost like a bath and body works for doggies!

bobsmom -- I think I met you and Bob at petco a while back before we met Keaton. I'm glad to hear Bob is doing good and might get a sister!

Teressa -- Hey don't you think it's fun to see a local on BoxerWorld? Keaton is around 5 years old. We aren't for sure because he is a rescue. Just adopted last Saturday!

Yes, we did meet at Petco, Monica. And isn't this a fun place?

Hi, Teressa - our Bob is about 3 - also from rescue so we don't know for sure, especially since his teeth were filed down by "humans" he knew in a previous life. He's now an extremely happy, short, brindle guy with natural ears.

My dogs have so many different kinds of doggy shampoo!
Any good quality dog shampoo should do the trick. Don't use any people shampoo, it's not good for a dogs skin.

I use Johnsons&Johnsons Baby body and hair wash. It's extremely gentle, gentle enough for my babe's skin(which gets very dry). I have only used it once, and Niko has had no probs with his skin at all. It's smells really good, and is tearless, just in case they shake and bubbles go flyin!

Just a thought on the dry/flakey skin and odor.....have you had his thyroid tested? Had a Dobie once that had the odor/skin problem and once we finally found out she had a thyroid problem, meds fixed her right up.
