My wife and I just got a boxer this wknd. This is our first Boxer. We live in a urban area and when we take Lenox outside, she shakes. It is a little cold outside but she's been shaken even when it is not that bad. I think she is afraid of all the noises. How would I prevent this from happening?

I'm sure the weather in NJ is not quite summer time weather yet so, as expected, your tiny pup will be a bit cold when going out. You can always get a little doggie sweater for the dog if you want. But, the dog will get used to it in a few weeks. Nothing to worry too much about.
If it is noise she is afraid of, just act as if it is no big deal, don't coddle the pup, just keep going. Don't force her into a situation where she is showing a great deal of fear. Go around it or away from it. But now is the time to expose the pup to lots of things so her fears will subside and she will be used to them (noises, people, kids, trucks, etc.) as she grows older.

We got Aspen about a month ago and she was 6wks old. She shook like crazy pretty much all of the time. i was concerened b/c my older Boxer never did this. Now she's 10 wks and only seems to shake when she gets herself into a tither. I think the world is just a scary place for them and the weather is cold. Most puppies have never been outside before we bring them home. ( we got her a sweater and she liked that,,,, although get one on Clearance b/c she was only able to wear it for a week!!!!!)

Our 5 month old boxer still does that a little bit too - he was bred and raised in the country so I think all the urban noises (even the kids on the school playground near us) frighten him. He has gotten better than he was 6 weeks ago when we got him. It is important not to "baby" him too much or he will remain afraid of everything. Our boxer is still getting used to cars - at first he would shy away when we even walked past a parked car. I catered to his fear for a while, then decided he needed to get used to it. So I would just reassure him as I made him walk past the parked car without shying away from it. He's totally fine with them now. Your puppy will get better as all the urban sounds become more familiar to him. Good luck!
