Our baby girl is having a very severe case of speration anxiety. She does not enjoy her crate and will escape it when put in it. We even put a lock on the outside of it and she still escaped. When she does she poops in the room and will be mildly destructive. I just have no clue on how to handle this.

Molly is the same way. So we decided for our sakes (needed sleep) cause she cried all night that we would put her in our room on a dog bed at night and that helped that situation. During the day we still had to have her crated so I was referred to the book "the dog listener" and it has helped out tremendously. she still really drools but no more destruction.

Try using the search function (above right side of screen) to do a search on separation anxiety. That will give you some ideas.
The Dog Listener can also give you some info. If all else fails, I suggest you find a reputable behaviorist and possibly get your girl on Clomicalm, which is used to treat sep anxiety. Clomicalm must be used, though, with behavioral therapy, as you don't want to keep your dog on it forever. Besides that, it's $$.

When left alone and free in the house, she is not destructive (except for occasional Boxer mischief), but she does urinate in the house and very occasionally will poop. My assignment from the behaviorist I use is to video tape Tae during my absence to see when she goes potty. Once we figure that out, she will give me a strategy.
I would try to resolve the issue without medication if at all possible. Keep us posted!

My miniature dachshund, Bailey, had separation anxiety so badly that he made himself sick. I had to bathe him daily because when I came home he had more than likely peed, pooped, thrown up and drooled all over himself in his crate. He would bark so much he'd foam at the mouth. This lasted for probably 6 months or so. He eventually calmed down a little. He would still get sick a few times but not nearly as much. Since I've gotten Beau, Bailey has never gotten sick. I think having Beau right beside him in a crate comforts him tremendously. I know you might not be able to get another dog right now, but it definitely helped me. One of my friends leaves the t.v. on for her dog so that he thinks someone is in the house all the time. He even watches it when he gets bored! It could just be a phaze. Puppies are a lot like children. What child do you know that is okay with his mommy and/or daddy leaving them alone? I think all dogs respond to different things, so it might take trying a few different things to see what works for you.

I'm kind of in the same boat right now. Trying desperately to find an effective way to deal with separation issues. Harley is fine when left alone in his crate, but now that I have begun working and his "dad" works away from home for a month I'd rather leave him out in the apartment so he can move around and play while I'm gone. I don't work often though so it's not a huge problem at this point. I'm trying to leave him for short periods of time a couple times a day. We've worked ourselves up to about 15 mins now before he starts to build anxiety. That's pretty much the only solution I've read about, besides getting a companion or trying medications.
If it's crate training that you would like to accomplish you should do a search here on the boards. We had some trouble crate training Harley so if you click on my username and view all posts by Harley03 that might give you some advice. You should ideally start crate training while you're home. Put her in her crate for naps, feeding, treats, play games in there, etc. She'll come to enjoy her crate much, much more.
