Boxer Pal
About 4 months ago, we rescued a beautiful little fawn girl. She's about a year and a half old and didn't get neutered until we got her (while she was in heat no less ugh!) Since then, we've had our ups and downs with her health and her behaviour, but it's been about 2 months since she's had any serious health issues. Unfortunately I can't say the same about her behaviour. Let me explain:
When we first got her, we found out through watching her that she was taught that the crate was the naughty box. However, we couldn't not crate her when we left for work because the minute we walked out the door she would pee on the carpet. We finally got her out of the crate is bad thing and she's quite happy to be in there now.
We still have an issue though, if she can't see us, she pees on the carpet. We tried a few days ago to just run to the store and back while leaving her out of the crate.. it was max 15 min. We got back and she had peed on the carpet. Ok, fine, maybe it was too long of a span of time, no problem we'll do a shorter stint again later on and see how that works.
Well, now we realize it's not just us leaving the house but if she doesn't have easy access to us she does the same thing. A good example is this morning, we were being a bit amourous and decided shutting the door was a good idea because she's got to be right there the whole time and that's a bit of a mood killer. We emerge from the room a little later to find that she's peed on the bathroom rug.
Understand, when each of these things happened, we had just brought her inside from going to the bathroom. The other day, we took her to pee, came back in, told her to go to her bed instead of her room, gave her treats like we do with the crate and left. This morning, we had just brought her upstairs not 5 minutes before that and she peed.
This is driving us nuts! We even got one of those DAP things. The thing that exudes female dog pregnancy hormones that is supposed to help with separation anxiety. She likes it and sniffs it often, but she still pees! She's housetrained and only goes when we are separated.
HELP!!!!
