I sit here counting the minutes until I have to drop Piper off at the vet to get spayed. I worry because she has never spent a night without me being close, and other than being left alone while I go to work she goes everywhere with me. How will she do tonight? Her surgury is scheduled for 8:00am and I have to be to work then, so they suggested that I drop her off tonight and she can stay in their boarding area. I have packed her food, blanket, and kong so she'll feel at home, but what will I do without her tonight. I feel silly whining about one night without my baby when a lot of you have been through worse, but I feel empty without her here and she's not even gone yet. Thanks for listening.

Everything will be fine!! It is much harder on us mommies than it is them..sending healing and healthy vibes that all goes well...keep us posted!!

At least they are doing it first thing so you can get your worries over with quicker instead of waiting all day. I had Kona in 3 wks ago for spaying and they started it at 12:15PM.

She will be fine!!!! Keep us posted.

Well it's funny you say that because their was an emergency surgury that delayed hers and it ended up being at 1:30 instead. The wait to see if she was okay was terrible and she's still a little grogy(sp?) and not really wanting to eat yet. I am glad however that all turned out okay. Plus since she's still grogy I get a little extra cuddle time.

My Sage's turn...

I'm scared to death to get my girl Sage spayed. She had an appt on July 25th. But our Vet had an out of town emergency and cancelled on us. I was so happy.. But now we are having to make another appt. to get her done. I'm terrified. She is my first female dog and I have no idea what to expect when heat comes around. (She'll be 1 yr old actually tomorrow =) ...) Please let me know how your girl did with her surgery. I need some reassurance..

Thanks,
Tina

Well I'll tell you I was a little worried last night because she just didn't seem like herself. We've had 3 females spayed by the same vet and the other 2 had never acted like that so I was really upset. But then I sat her on the bed and looked her in the eyes and I knew it was only because she still had the "medicine head" syndrome. The other 2 dogs were spayed in the morning and Piper got spayed in the afternoon. Well I'm happy to report that when we woke up this morning she is back to her bright eyed wiggly butt self. She's just moving a little slower. Good luck and remember it really is the best thing for her in the long run, and you. We didn't spay our German Shepherd until she was 3yrs old and ever heat was a pain!
