I need some help!!! My 8 month old, Seattle is having Seizures. It is very strange. She will be frozen in a spot, standing up, with her head hanging down. Her back legs quiver just a little bit. This will last 2 to 3 minutes then she will finally want to climp on my lap and cuddle. She returns to her crazy boxer self in 20 to 30 minutes.

I took het to the vet yesterday and they they checked her blood. Everything looks good. Has anyone encountered anything like this?? I am going crazy!!!!

?

My first boxer, Bailey, was an epileptic. From her very first seizure we knew. She was with us for only about a year after being diagnosed.

I do not beleive that epilepsy can be determined by a blood test, I think you need to have a CT scan or something of the sort, seeing as it's a brain disorder. ??? Just my thought on the matter. I wish you and Seattle the very best.

My girl is epileptic. She started having seizers when she was 10 months. How often does your dog have them? She started to have them once a week. We started with phonobarbitol & have worked up on dosage from there. They were still pretty bad so we also put her on potassium bromide. We have them controlled to one seizure every 45 days. They usually happen when something traumatic goes on. (Thunder storms/hectic day ect.)

I would say if she has them a lot - she probably needs to be medicated. I would find a vet in the area that knows a lot about seizures in animals.

Good luck with everything! I know it can be very scary.

Thank goodness, she has not has any since Monday morning. The doctor took blood to see if her kidneys and liver were funtioning good. I am happy to report they are. For now we are going to keep a log of when and if they happen, how long and what goes along with it. Hopefully I will not have anything to write down.

We are keeping our fingers crossed.

A little bit different, but I used to have a rabbit that would have seizures. I never put him on medication because he was fine the rest of the time. He lived to be very old for a rabbit and the seizures even became less frequent as he bacame older. Point being, it is possible for animale to live a long, healthy life :)
