I'm sorry for your loss and it does sound like it really wasn't preventable. All I can relate to is that we lost my kitty Amanda last July, and it was extremely difficult. I did not like the way the woman who answered our first call acted and it turned out that Amanda was seriously sick. She put it off and we should have asked for the vet first time around.

It was our mistake we trusted them and I don't know if it would have changed things or not. Amanda was sick with fatty liver and by the time the symptoms show up, its too late. The only thing we could have done is a stomach tube for 6 weeks to see if maybe she could have recovered. I didn't feel it was right to put her through this, she was around 15 years old and she was my kitty and I loved her.

The day we released her from her pain she responded to both of us and just was so ill it was unbearable. It was the first time I stayed with my animal and I'm very glad I did.

I'm not sure of the details of your loss but unless you have clear evidence that nothing was different or would have changed things I don't know if its worth it to put yourself through that.

I will say our veterinary clinic was very good about the bill, no demands or nothing, they just let us pay when we could.

I still wonder if we should have placed the tube in her but I just didn't think it was the right thing to do.. I miss her dearly.. I don't know if any of this helps I just don't want you to feel guilty about what has happened, WHO KNOWS...
