Hello Everyone! Haven't posted anything on the site for a long time, but now I need some advice. We have a male brindle boxer named Buster who just turned 4 this month....he is the best...we love him to pieces. He's very gentle with our son and gets along great with other dogs except other large male dogs when I'm around (the vet says he's just protecting his mom) but we're thinking about getting a pup...do you think we've waited too long & he's too old to appreciate sharing his house with another dog? He loves to play and we have plenty of room & a big yard for them to play in. Does anyone have any advice??
BOXERS ARE THE BEST

I don't think 4 is too old, just depends on the dog I think. Even old dogs adapt to having a pup around and enjoy it.

You know him best and how he would react. :)

I got Benson over a year ago when he was just a pup. We didn't get our 2nd boxer until he was almost 1 1/2 years old. We got Bogart and he was 4 months old. Right from the start they were bst buds! Then in sucsession we got Kira our baby boxer of 10 wks and our rescue boxer who is a month older than Benson. There has never been a problem in our house with any of the new arrivals but if I had it to do all over again I ould have done it the same way. By getting a pup who was old enogh to play with first because I think with all the attention a tiny baby gets that it could have caused jealously/ or at least pouting on Benson's part. Best of luck finding the newest addition to your family! fiesta1ico

When we adopted Maya, Roxie was 11+, there were no problems!! We are waiting for our little boy to come this summer hopefully, that will make three!and Maya is 5, so I think as with most it depends on the dog..........he sounds like a great one!!! I sure would go for it if it were me. Let us know.

Hello!
We got Sasha (fem. blk Chow Chow 4 months old at the time) back in November 2004 and Otis (our Boxer) was 16 months old at the time. After a slight (about 2 weeks) adjustment period, they are having a ball together. It's not always perfect...just like my skin kids, they will squabble over toys every now and then but they are easily distracted and everything is fine again. It's hard work with two...and the training is tougher because there are two but it's also been alot of fun!

IMO, I don't think that 4 is too late.

Good Luck!
