My soon to be 19 mths old boxer has been scratching very vigoursly for the last 6 months to a point that his chest is all red from the scratches he inflicts on himself as well as behind his ears.
I have spoken to the vet and he does not believe it’s a skin condition as Tyson's fur is very shinny and has a great colour. He asked me to try a new medicine to stop the scratching however it does not seem to be working.
I have changed his diet and also shampoo and have cut the baths to once every 3-4 months.
Nothing seems to be working and I am worried that he will seriously hurt himself.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Will try anything.

What food do you feed? Changing foods won't do any good if it's a food allergy and the food you're feeding still contains the allergen. Also do you use fish oil? If not I'd suggest it. And what about detergent that you may wash his bedding in? Maybe try just some vinegar in the washing water to see if that helps?
