scratching on doors

Guinness has been scratching on our doors in the house if we are in a room with the door closed and he wants in...or out for that matter. We can't close any doors...including the bathroom. if one of us is in there he scratches to come in if he's in there with me he scratches to get out...2 BIG probs...1. my door all need to be replaced as he has put nice scraches in them and 2. he did this with our friend who watched him when we were gone!! Guin wouldn't let him go in peace!!! What should I do with him??

I would give him a time out in his crate when he does this. If you want to be in a room with the door closed, crate him first.
