Lately I have been noticing some white scrach marks on my 6 month year old Fletcher, around his jowls and head, and am starting to get converned that I should restrict his play with other dogs at the dog run. I am sure that other breeds get similar scrapes on thier skin after rough play, but with the boxers short hair, it seems as though they are much more noticeable.

Has anyone else had this with their boxer?? Does the skin and hair repair itself overtime or are these marks now permanent? Would hate to cut down on his play time, but don't want some beat up looking boxer ;)

Thanks.

I see a lot of Maddie's (she is white) scratches from playing with other dogs. They usually heal and I can never tell they were there. She does have maybe 1 or 2 that turned into small scars but nothing major. I still continue to let her play, I wouldn't feel right if I took her play time away. You can just monitor them and if you feel they are starting to be to rough, take a break for a few minutes.

Get used to it!! Muggsey has lots of scratches and scabs on him from playing. The eventually heal and the fur grows back but it takes some time because their hair is so short. It is just one of the things you have to put up with when you own a breed that likes to play rough!!!
