We got two kittens this past weekend to keep outside for mouse control. They have made our front porch their home. Well, they are scared of Dodge. Everytime I open the door to let him outside, they hiss and bat their paws at him. He hasn't done anything to them. I think they are just scared because he is so much bigger than them. Anyway, Dodge is now refusing to go out the front door if the cats are on the porch. I can tell Dodge wants to be friends with them. In fact, last winter we had a stray cat show up at our barn and she and Dodge became good friends. Any advice on how to help Dodge and the kittens get along?

i think it would be nice if the kittens were introduced inside the house - the more they are around each other while they are stil young, the better they will be with each other.

a friend of mine has always had a cat & she always brings home rescue dogs & it's her cat that lets them know who is boss in her house straight away.

when i had my cat there was no room at the inn for any dog - she hated them. :D

i think it is sooo cute when dogs & cats get a long.

hope it all works out.

the kittens need time to adjust to your dog - right now they just think "ooh big scary monster - mummy help!"

cats rule - dogs drool. lol. :D

We got Drake after the cat has been here for 12 years. He of course, loves to play with her. She acts like she doens't like it at first, but then she's always around when he's outside playing. I know she thinks she's the #1 pet, and he thinks he's #1 (which he is!) Don't tell the cat!
