Boxer Buddy
On the 24th I noticed that Jersey had bumps starting in the middle of her back and going down to her tail area. They are also down along the side of her body in the area. none up front or on face or legs. She isn't scratching and she is eating fine and acting normal. She has two little red spots on her tummy. I took her to the vet today and she said that it appears that she is having an allergic reaction, but she is not sure to what (could be bug bite, food allergie, or shampoo used at the groomer - she was groomed on the 23rd: the day before the hives showed up.) She also has a fever of 104.1 The vet sent me home with some benedryl and told me to wash the two little spots on her tummy once a day with antibacterial soap. She said the two bumps on tummy appeared to be a small skin infection.
I am having a hard time accepting her diagnosis because I have never seen hives that were dry and scaley on top and blood red beneath the dryness. The fever makes me nervous too.
I was thinking that maybe her brushing by our Christmas tree was maybe causing her to get poked by the needles on the tree and maybe she was reacting to that. But we've had our tree for about two or three weeks and she's been walking around it the whole time.
Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
Also, is there any way of going about finding a vet in one's area that specializes in Boxers?
