Scabies, (red mange) can anyone help???

My Bailey has just been diagnosed with red mange. The vet said this is very common in boxers?? She was dipped today and will have to go back 5 more times (once every two weeks). This is pretty costly. I just wondered if anyone else knew of another treatment- maybe something I can get at the pet store.

If you do a search of the forums - use the terms 'demodectic', 'demodex' or mange - you'll find hundreds of thread that can help you out here.

Mange is the result of a compromised or overly-stressed immune system. Boosting the immune system is thus key to curing the mange. Diet, supplements and eliminating stress are things you can look at to help him. The dips are extremely toxic though, and although it does kill mites, it generally also compromises the immune system further - so you can end up going round in a circle.
