I have been following this thread for some time, and am deeply saddened to hear about the loss of your beloved Riggo, he was a real trooper. Your care and treatment were beyond reproach, and I have no doubt that Riggo knew you had not abandoned him. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers ~ Cathy

Thanks again to everyone for their kind words. It's still hard after 2 weeks to forgive myself for not being there but I guess it wasn't meant to be. Like everyone on this board my family and friends reassure me all the time that he couldn't have had a better owner looking out for him but I guess I'm too hard on myself. I broke down at least once every day for about 10 straight days was okay for 3 but the sadness got the best of me the other day. I still can't believe the depth of my emotions but since I live alone he really was like a child to me. I have also been happily surprised by the outpouring of sympathy from other dog owners in the neighborhood. I've gotten a number of cards from people who I really didn't even know their names but they've been very supportive. Riggo really was loved not just by myself but by the entire community as I always made sure he got a lot of exercise in the neighborhood and he was so full of life, energy and love.

I will say a prayer for you at this time, because I know how you are hurting. The depth of our grief does related directly to the depth of our love. I am still grieving the loss of Duchess five years ago for not knowing the signs of bloat. My ignorance caused her death. You have to forgive yourself and not blame yourself. I blamed myself for so long, so I know what you are going through. You can PM me any time you need to talk.

Riggo D,
I am so sorry for your loss. I have been following the posts of his illness but somehow I missed your post about his passing.
Please do not feel guilty, you were doing what was best for him.
Riggo knows that because you loved him so much you were trying to make him well and that you did everything you could for him.
He is watching over you from the bridge with love & pride all while playing with his big red ball of course:)
