Same sex/too many?

I have three dogs. Two are Miniature Pinschers and one is a Boxer. I wanted to adopt another Boxer but have been running into problems. One is my local rescue doesn't do same sex placements. I have two males and one female. I do understand their policy and respect they are doing it for the dogs. Other rescues or individuals I've come across don't like the idea that I have three dogs already. So I was wondering if others have had issues with wanting to adopt but couldn't because they had the same sex and or too many dogs? And how they solved the problem. I do not want a puppy as I want to help the overpopulation/homeless problem, plus I wouldn't be able to be home enough thru the day to let them out enough. I don't think it would be fair to a puppy. Any ideas would be great! Even if it's just telling me I shouldn't get another dog. Thanks!

Whenn I adopted Susie from SCBR, they were wary of me as well since I already had one girl, Maggie.

They came out and brought another female to the home check and decided it would be fine to adopt Susie since Maggie could care less about your gender, as long as you are here to be her friend and play with her.

All has worked out as it should have.

When Boxer Rescue does a home check, they should be able to see whether or not there's going to be a problem with a multi-dog family and members of the same sex. (MinPins can get kinda nasty, however.)

I would imagine that it would have to do with the temperment of the dog/s you currently have. If there is an alpha, I would most definitely get one that is submissive. Knock on wood, my females have always gotten along. Good luck with your search for another dog - Cathy
