Ruff Noses

Help! I have 5 boxers. Age 7-11. They all seem to be getting ruff noses.Example is crusty growth on the upper side above the nostrils. I have been told thyroid issues, plastic bowls, digging, licking, allergies? What do you think anyone? Anyone else having this happen?

My 3yo Chancey is on thyroid meds but her nose has never gotten that way. My angel Kiddo's nose did get that way a few months before I lost her to lymphoma. Others here suggested using things like bag balm,vitamin E or even a dab of olive oil to help with the dryness.

Our last dog always had a rough nose, she didn't snuffle about on the floor or anything so that wasn't the cause. I just used to put vaseline on it to soften it and like Wanda says it doesn't get licked off quickly either (yuk)

I had a GSD and his nose was terrible with growth and being rough. OMG, I hate to admit this, but it was my fault. I didn't think and put down that "get rid of any pet odors plus smell good" junk onto my carpet. This happened soon after, so I pretty much guess I caused it. :mad: Took me a long time to forgive myself for it. I put vaseline on it, but it just never went away. He had it on his nose for five more years until he passed on. Vet said some dogs have it, allergies. Didn't bother him, it bothered me. Man, I miss him.
