So, Roscoe has been with me since he 10 wks now he is now 14 wks. I have has my other dog with my mom just until i aclimated Roscoe to his new home and yard & all that. I then introduced them during a walk I gave Roscoe and they get along well BUT:

Roscoe is always trying to jump on him and bite on his legs, tail, tongue and Trouble (lab\pit mix) 10 yrs old does not like this at all. he growls and barks at him. No attempts from trouble(older dog)to attack him at this point.

Can anyone tell me how I should be showing Roscoe that his behavior towrds the older dog in not wanted and make him stop doing it?

I am sure Trouble would be a lot happier with him once he stops...

Typical annoying puppy. Those corrections Trouble are giving him are a good thing as that is how he will learn his manners. I would let Trouble set this little one straight but if Trouble seems tired, or is getting nicked with puppy teeth then I would just calmly redirect Roscoe. Trouble should not have to put up with Roscoe if he is eating, sleeping, etc. With my boy his crate was sacred territory and my girl never got to go in there so he always knew he coudl go in there and be "safe" from puppy attacks :). So now they play a lot but when Fraze heads for the crate it is over and Nysa knows to go find something else to do. Older dogs are simply not interested in all that foolishness but can be very fond of thier puppies and will teach them great"dog stuff". Good luck with your crew

Hi! I had this same exact issue with introducing Chief to our lab/ shepherd mix (5 years old)! Chief would pull on Sam's legs like chicken legs and bite his tail and neck in playing! Sam would get so angry and growl, snap, and show his teeth! We had to moderate at first! However, time and experience taught them to respect each other! As of now... your babies are practically strangers! ;) They will earn the respect of each other through experience and learning! I would moderate, of course, to make sure that it doesn't get out of hand! But time will bring it all together, ultimately! Good luck and keep us posted!

Thanks

Thank you for responding to me and let me tell you it feels better to know that I am not alone with this issue, and someone else here has gone through it. I sure do hope they begin to get along in the future. For now i only let them be together in the yard supervised but Trouble runs to his house in the garage once Roscoe starts to nip and jump on him.

Trouble is a outside dog and Roscoe is a inside dog. Trouble has always been more comfortable outside and cries and paces when I bring him into the house for colder fays during the winter.

But thanks for the feed back and I know it will all work out in the end.
