Hi Everyone!
I've been in and out of this forum for the last year asking questions and seeking advice for Tucker. Last year at about this time he started showing a loss of function and weakness in his legs and it was determined that he most likely had a tick disease and was treated for it and a few weeks later he was back 100%. Then last January he started showing symptoms again and got really bad very quickly and after weeks of trying to figure out what was going on he tested positive for RMSF. I convinced my Vet after researching online that he needed higher doses of doxy for a longer period of time to get rid of it especially since he has effected him neurologically. I've heard that there can be a full recovery but wondered if anyone here has had any experience with it. One symptom is severe joint and muscle pain and prednisone is the only thing keeping him mobile right now. I know that it can have serious side effects so we want to wean him off of it as soon as we can but on the day he doesn't get it he acts like it's too painful to move...
Any imput would be appreciated! He's doing a little bit better and getting his sweet personality back, but I really thought he was dying a week ago...
Thanks,
Patti
