We had to put Rocky to sleep today. He had a bad night last night and today he had a temperature. He was also in pain so we took him to the vets. The medications were not helping him in his fight against the meningitis and we thought it was time to let him have some peace.

I was with him at the end and I was able to tell him how much he meant to me and how much I loved him. I know he was in pain and this was the best thing to do but Im second guessing myself now.

I lost my best friend and I am totally heartbroken right now...

So sorry to hear about Rocky and I am sure you did the right thing.

We also had to let go of our Brodie today... I understand your pain far too much.

My vets assistant once said..."I'd much rather put my dog down a day early than a day late.". They give such unconditional love...it's the one thing we can control for them. You'll go thru all kinds of emotions...just give yourself plenty of time to grieve. I'm so sorry. I know what you are going thru.

I am so sorry. I know the pain is unbearable right now, but know you did everything you could for him. You pushed for answers when you knew something wasn't right and you got him the help you could. Sometimes that just isn't enough. You then have to make the most painful decision of all. I know your heart is breaking and mine is breaking for you. Rocky is no longer in pain and as much as we want our pups to live forever, we also want them to be healthy and happy. You will second guess yourself, that is all brought on by love. Please know you did the right thing and your boy is now pain free. He is also not alone. There are a lot of other boxer pups up at the bridge to keep him company until you see him again. Hugs and prayers for you. Run free Rocky! angelicon

I am so sorry for your loss. No matter how they leave us, you can't help but wonder if you could have done something different. Guilt is unfortunately a part of the grieving process.

Tomorrow will be six months since Darwin passed away. I tell myself that I should be grateful that he passed quickly and seemed to experience little discomfort. But although he was terminally ill, it was still a surprise when he died and I feel guilt that I wasn't with him to hold him and say thank you and goodbye. There is no way I could have known, but I still wish I hadn't left him at the hospital.

You will be sad for a long time, but you will also find peace.

My condolences.
Losing them is one of the single most hardest things we will ever have to endure.
From one broken heart to another, I wish you peace.
