Riding in the car

I was curious about how your dog rides in the car. I'm used to a lab who has to feel the breeze and sits like a person watching the world go by. Now the boxer can be bouncing off the walls and hanging from the ceiling fans before we leave but as soon as they jump in the car one will lie down and sleep and the other will just sit in the back seat very still. I don't think they are nervous because all you have to do is say ride and they are at the door. I was just wondering how yours acts because, like i said, I'm used to a lab who moves around much more.

Rocco our 1yr 10 month old will and as always sat and behaved really well in the car. Lola our 6month old is like possessed when she gets in and will not sit still. we have to 'belt' her in to keep her safe and me from crashing.LOL

Blizzy would pace in the back of the SUV..then finally lay down once she fell over a few times due to a quick corner or whatever

Carson and Echo are confined to the travel kennel when we take them in the vehicles. But they tend to take a snooze when we are driving

We have to strap Maverick down otherwise he tries to get in the front to sit in my lap weither I am Driving or riding which is a definate No No nonoicon (by strapping in I mean belted)

My 2 are belted, they are spastic in the car when they first get in, luckily they calm down...a little.

But I plan pn taking them on more rides so they can get used to it

"Roxy, Proper Behavior"

We had Roxy in the front seat on our laps when she was a lil puppy but she's grown, now almost 7 months and about 30 lbs. We got her used to the backseat by telling her "Roxy, show us proper behavior" and we got her to lay down and just look at us and of course she would get a treat. So now, if she tries to get in the front, we will say, "Roxy, proper behavior" and she lays down with a quickness and gets a piece of kibble. She will hang her head out the window sometimes and sometimes just watch the cars go by and sit up. I have a pic of her... I will have to upload it on the computer and send it tonight. I will do that and post it in the gallery. It's too funny. She definately was not being a lady... all spread eagle. But as soon as we say "Roxy, proper behavior" She lays right down. Treats are GREAT!!! She loves the car!

ABBY loves taking road trips. She'll sit on passenger side of the seat of my pick-up and look around out of the window like any person would do. If it is an unusually long trip and there's not much going on, she will lay down, put her head in my lap, and go to sleep. She really surprises me on how well she behaves. I've had other dogs, not Boxers, that when I would try to take them along with me, they would freak out before I could back out of my driveway.

The car is one of Josi's favorite things to do. She will jump in at any chance and check out the scenery for a few and then lights out till will get to our destination whether it is five minutes or five hours. It is like a sleeping pill to her, I honestly can not even get her out of the car to go pooty on long road trips!

Dite has always loved riding in the car. Since she is human she prefers the front seat...usually taking in the sights and seeing how much attention she can get. Skynyrd isn't quite there yet. On the ride home when we first got him, he couldn't quite figure out how to get situated. He's getting better, but when he's in the front seat he tries to lay up the back part of the seat. It looks uncomfortable.

Diesel used to ride in my Jeep with the top down and just lay in the back until 3 weeks ago on the way to the dog park. Now he's belted in after his jump out of a moving car episode .
