Boxer Pal
We looked at each other and said at the same time. What have we done. But after a few days we are very happy. We rescued a 7 month old Boxer from a 4x4 Kennel in a basement. He is absolutely gorgeous and has made our family complete. He and our little girl (6 months) have played almost none stop.
I do have a question? He is registered with the Continental Kennel Club? I do not have any experience with this club, can anyone tell me about it and if, and that is a pretty big “if” we decide to breed how would we register the puppies?
Thanks!

Congrats, but...

I commend you on your rescue! It is always a wonderful thing when someone rescues a dog in need. I am so glad your new boy and your girl are getting along well. Make sure to give him the same kind of training that you gave your girl.

On the subject of breeding, I have a suggestion. You need to go directly to the rules forum and read. Boxerworld does not allow the discussion of unethical breeding practices. The ONLY valid reason for breeding your dogs would be for betterment of the boxer breed...period. Before you can breed them the proper health testing MUST be done, and that cannot be done before 24 months of age. Most everyone else here will also agree that you need to show BOTH dogs through to their championship, so that you know they meet the breeds physical standard as well. If all of these requirements are met, your next step would be to find a boxer that complements your female or male's weaknesses or faults. Even if they both pass all of the health testing and you show them both to their championship, more than likely they arent going to be complementary to eachother in a breeding program. You also will need to find a mentor to back you up and help you with all of this.

Also take into consideration that you just rescued this boy from a bad situation. Do you also want to turn him into a breeding stud for no good reason? I think it is wonderful that you took him into your home...give him a great and worry free life. Have him neutered and just enjoy the love he can give you...dont expect anything but love in return.

If you listen to everything that bunkermom said you will not go wrong, I agree with everything that she mentioned to you. You need to have both of your babies neutered and spayed.

Why in the world would you breed a rescue pup?? Continental Club Registry is a registry in the US that is used by "back yard breeders" (people who are unable to register with the AKC for whatever reason). I would certainly never ever consider breeding anything that was CKC-registered.

Please do a search here on responsible breeding. This link discusses all of the health testing that needs to be done before breeding should even be considered: http://www.boxerworld.com/health_testing/

Congrats on rescuing your pup! 2 Boxres are a lot of fun!

As for the breeding...scroll through petfinder, or any one of the rescues and see how many Boxers are available. I too "thought" about breeding years ago when Murph was still a pup. I came to BW back then and saw how many Boxers were in need of homes and couldn't add to it. Please consider having both Boxers fixed. Healthwise it is the best you can do as well!
