That's such a sad story...

Mark's parents have a Golden Retriever (Max) and they haven't kept him up to date on his HW medication. In fact, they have never given it to him...He gulped up some antifreeze two years ago and had to have three blood transfusions and made it out okay, they were left with a huge bill and were told that Max had heartworms. They can afford their son (not Mark) a new mini-motorcycle and a ton of other unncessary things but can't afford $15 a month for Heartguard. If Mark and I could help Max out, we would...we are trying to come up with the money to go through the 'getting rid of HW's process'...

It breaks my heart to know that Max could die tomorrow just because Mark's parents don't want to take responsibility for him. I am going to print this story out and show it to them and hope to God it opens their eyes. He is such a sweet dog (as it sounds like Buddy was too)...

You can avoid heartworms just give the medicine once a month.. it's really not costly especially when you consider what it will end up costing if you don't treat them and they end up getting heartworms. That is if the treatment works and their little bodies can handle it. It's really sad to lose a furbaby when it could have been avoided so easily. Most dogs at least the ones I had love the medicine they thinks its just another treat their getting. We had a chow years ago that had heartwroms we were lucky he did fine with the treatment but it is something that I never want to have to go through again.. Prevention is the best and easiest way to go.. wormicon

Poor Buddy he looked to be a very sweet fellow.. God speed Buddy..

Oh Adelle that is so sad. Please extend my sympathies to Buddy's foster parents and forever parents-to-be. I wish more people would just use the medication so animals didn't have to die unnecessarily. Godspeed Buddy. angelicon
