otto-matic
Boxer Pal
Hi,
We have a 5 month male boxer in great shape, and have recently decided to rescue a second 6 month old male. Otto our first boxer, is in heaven, now having someone to play with ... every second of the day.
Otto outweighs the new addition Bodhi by at least 10 pounds, even though Bodhi is slightly taller. When I run my hands across Bohdi's back he is all skeleton. :-( So, the question is how do we "fatten" him up in a way that he can process.
Seeing that Bodhi is at the age I would normally reduce from three meals a day to two..... I am thinking he needs some catch up time and we should extend the three meal a day feeding schedule for a bit. I was considering appetite enhancers like cottage cheese , carrots (otto loves them), and peanut butter in addition to the kibble/wet food routine we already use. By the way, we use Nutro large breed puppy kibble.. with Max wet food. Bodhi has never seen a treat in his life, I am positive, and does not know what to do with "cookie" or treats....so Otto basically eats it all.
Additionally, as we suspect that Bodhi was abused as well as neglected, help on how to build his confidence <besides a whole lot of hugs> would be welcome.
Thanks!
Kellie
