Oh well I guess I will try to make your next one. It's funny though, I am the one who started the whole bash idea about that weekend, and now I can't make it because it is on Sunday.OH well I hope you all have fun and hopefully the next one will be on a Saturday.

I'm so sorry you can't make it

I would have suggested Saturday but there's no way I can get all the t-shirts done by then with working f/t and going to school f/t.

I am so sorry. We will definitely have another one and make sure it's on a Saturday!!!

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it on that weekend. I'm pretty new to this forum(and the breed) so taking my 12 week old Mocha out to socialize would have been fun.

I do have a question on puppy kindergarten. Do you guys have any recommendations for schools near the west/northwest suburbs? I know this might not be the best place to ask this question but I figured it's be too broad geographically if I placed it in another area.

Thanks,
Efrain

Puppy Kindergarten?? Hmmmm.........I TRIED the classes @ Petco Or PetSmart - whatever - didnt' much like them though I did learn a couple good strategies. I pretty much trained Max on my own. She's a good girl BUT I had to get her a shock collar b/c she didn't like to listen with other people around. I think she might have buried it in the yard b/c I can't find it! LOL - I was soooo afraid of using one, but actually it didn't hurt her - just gave her a little refresher on listening. I felt more comfortable once I buzzed her a couple times. I would rather that than her get hit by a car! It does work and it doesn't HURT - of course Max isn't 12 wks. old anymore and I didn't use one until she was at least 18 or 19 months old though she probably could have used it a little earlier. Oh well.

Good Luck. Sorry no info on the puppy kg!

WILDWOOD DOG TRAINING CLUB

I absolutely love Wildwood Dog Training Club in Villa Park, IL. I have taken my dogs there and am still involved with them. My boxer Lucy actually starts her CGC (Canine Good Citizen) class tonight. They use positive reinforcement but also strongly teach that your dog sees you as the alpha. I know some people don't like having to correct their dog and say no, but I tell you, at Wildwood they care about you and their dog. And, since the trainers are all volunteers, they train because they love it, not because they are being paid to.

Thanks for the info! I checked on Wildwood but their next puppy classes don't start until Dec(she'll probably be a terror by then). I found another dog training school in Villa Park and visited a class today. I believe it's called the Lyons Dog Training Club. The class seemed okay and they used positive reinforcement. Their next puppy class starts next week so I think I'm going to take Mocha there. Unless anyone has any bad experiences with them....

Thanks for all your help. Mocha seems like she'd be the class bully so hopefully her socialization skills pick up!

I haven't been there before but I have heard good things. I know Wildwood doesn't start classes too often, since there are a limited number of trainers. I'm glad you found a good class. Good luck to you and Mocha.
