Does anyone know what I can give Beau to help him with his horrible GAS problem? I know this is a trait that lots of boxers have, but man, I am about to go looking for a gas mask to start wearing around my house. They are soooooooo bad!!! And they linger around forever. Any suggestions as to what I could give him to help? Is he having problems digesting or what? Help! PEEEEYYOUUUUUUUU>...

I almost forgot about the GAS!

Jersey has been struggling with vaginitis for about 4 months now. I've been giving her two small tablespoons of plain active yogurt each morning for the past month in the hopes it would help. It has helped immensly. What I didn't realize until I read this post is that the last month has been STINK FREE in our house!

I agree with trying out the yogurt, it's a safe and inexpensive solution if it works for your pup. Good luck!

We used charcole dog treats on a bulldog we had. It tamed it but didn't cure it.

On the plus side, when you have unwanted visitors, put the dog on a down-stay next to their feet. One problem solved!

Yogart really works wonders. I've be giving Sable yogart for a while now and we really haven't had any problems. Except when I went to Seattle, my hubby didn't know to give it to her and well lets just say the house wasn't so fresh when I came home.

Also, what kind of food are you feeding? The food you feed has a lot to do with the nastiness level of the gas they produce. If a food has lots of grains and fillers, the dog will get way more nasty gas.

Louie used to have really bad gas. I started him on Eukanuba, then Science Diet, then Iams... and all 3 gave him horrible gas. Then, I started feeding him Authority (Petsmart's brand). The ingredients were the same as Science Diet as far as I could tell. But I don't know if it's the food, or just that he's growing up, but I can't even remember the last time he let a stinker. He still lets out loud rippers when we're playing, but they don't stink.
Maybe try feeding Authority, it seems to work for me. But I just might be lucky.

If you're going to try switching foods, I'd really recommend that you try foods from the Whole Dog Journal's Top Ten List. These are the healthiest foods available, and will have fewer fillers, more nutrients, and not the chemicals and preservatives so common in the foods such as Euk, SD, Iams, and yes, Authority. (Sorry, J&L, don't mean to bash your suggestion, but you may indeed have gotten lucky on that food, as it is not among the best available.) I'd recommend a food like Canidae, California Natural or any of the others on that list.

I was on the internet at work one day and saw the gas pills with the boxer on the bottle and had to print it out to show my hubby - only a boxer owner knows how deadly these cute little furbabies could be when they let one go!!! My husband (and I think my father might have done this too with our one terrier) used "Beano" and it did work. I want to try the yogurt - originally we were told our boy had a really sensitive stomach, but after he ate some not so pleasant things and didn't get sick, I'm sure he could handle the yogurt. Thanks for the tip!
