I am starting to train my second boxer (8wks old) and I was wondering if everyone else had the same release command for both boxers. While working with the younger one I put my older one in a down stay. His release command is "okay" and when I use "okay" to release the younger one from her sit the older boxer gets up-I can't blame him b/c I technically just released him. I like training with both of them in the room b/c the distraction of us is good for the older boxer. If you do use two release words what is another good one besides "okay"? Thanks for any and all ideas.

We use the same commands for both, even when working one at a time in the same room like you do. :)
For example, I'll tell Maximus down/stay and work with Axe. Every so often, I'll remind Maximus down/stay, so he knows I didn't forget about him!!

If I tell Axe "come", before I do that, I remind Maximus down/stay. It usually sounds like this-- "Maximus, stay; Axe come" repeated if necessary. Then both are paying attention, but using their names they have specific different commands.

I do have them pretty well-trained to one sit/stay while the other comes-- when they're sitting next to each other. I don't know at that young age if it's possible-- i'm sure it can be done though!! they're so smart!

Good luck!

Thanks,
I'll try mentioning names with the command, Belle (the 8 week old) is still so young that she is just now learning her name. I was trying to think of a differnet release word for her but I couldn't come up with any.

If you do end up using a different release word for each, what about "All Done" (or just "Done") or "Alright" or even "Release"?

Thank you,
I was trying to come up with some unique phrase that could be the release. I like "all right" much better than my husband's suggestion of something silly like "yellow" or "do-dah" but that would make me laugh for her to jump up from her sit when I said "do-dah"....hmmmm
