Has anyone read this one? I'm debating if I should order it online or just head to the store to see if they have it.

Full title is Redemption: The Myth of Pet Overpopulation and the No Kill Revolution in America

From Amazon -
Redemption is the story of animal sheltering in the United States, a movement that was born of compassion and then lost its way. It is the story of the 'No Kill' movement, which says we can and must stop the killing. But most of all, it is a story about believing in the community and trusting in the power of compassion.

I have not read it yet but it is on my list for the very near future.

Our local animal welfare society is in the process of doing a capital campaign and feasibility studies to build a shelter. We lost our local humane society a few of years ago and a group of people recognized the need to have an outlet for animals and started our organization.

We are following Nathan Winograd's ways of doing trap neuter return (TNR) and being no kill. We don't have a physical shelter yet but we do have foster homes that have over 50 kittens in foster. Fortunately, we haven't had much of a need for dog foster homes but have had a few dogs go through our organization. Our primary focus is on offering low cost spay and neuter for cats and our August clinic is the first clinic that we will be doing dogs. Since April of last year, we spayed and neutered 627 cats which is a huge amount for our area. Our population is so low that we service 3 whole counties. Unfortunately I got the call today that our subsidized spays and neuter budget of $12,000 for the year has been depleted already so we are unable to do anymore free surgeries (which mostly benefits large colonies of ferals) for the year unless more funds are raised. We are still doing low cost for pet owners and are moving full speed ahead. For our August clinic I already have 65 cats scheduled and have a bunch of messages on the phone that I have to return calls, clinic is still 4 weeks away...amazing.

Wow, that was a long winded explanation.

Anyhow, Nathan Winograd has a blog:

And here is a video of an interview with him:

Hopefully those link help you make your decision. The last I checked Amazon, the book was $11.53.
