Well I have been dealing with an itchy dog and thinking she had allergy to her food so changed her food. Now she is on the Duck/Pot thought we were doing well on it until today I noticed the red under her armpit. And she can lick it so that's made it worse . So lost with this and thinking it's no longer a food allergy . Can a food allergy do that ?

Food allergies typically produce red itchy feet (extremities) and ear infections, but not normally the sort of red itchy bumps in the armpits and haieloss you're describing. IF allergy related at all, I'd be more inclined to suspect a contact allergy.

Another possibility though, is sarcoptic mange - for which the classic symptoms are very itchy skin, hairloss in the armpits, spreading to the rest of the abdomen, and red bumps that may become infected (especially if the dog scratches or licks - which inevitably they do). You'd need to see a vet for diagnosis though, and for treatment in the event it is sarcoptic mange. Bear in mind that sarcoptic mange is infectious, so if this is a possibility, you'd need to keep your dog away from others till treated. More info about it here - if this sounds like your problem, then I'd suggest seeing a vet right away: Canine Scabies: Sarcoptic Mange in Dogs

Update on My Itchy Diamond

Well Diamond has always been itchy and I kept trying different things and changing her food. So I took her back to the Vet (last Friday) and said ok she's still itching like crazy . So he gave her a shot and omg it has done wonders ! She barely itches or chews her paws at all . He said it seems that she just has really bad allergies and possible inhalent allergies. I was worried it was something deeper underneath her skin maybe and he said no . So I feel so much better now and i'm sure she surely does .
