Red eyes

My Hannah has gotten really red eyes lately and I was to make sure it normal. Is it normal for boxers to have droopy red eyes?

It is normal when they are sleepy. My Shakira's eyes get very red and droopy when she is sleepy. Does your baby have more then the usual discharge from the eyes? If so is it greenish? It could be allergies or an eye infection. If it persists and is there all the time, not just sleepy times, then I would seek a vets advice.

What color is your baby? Beau is white, which makes his eyes seem very red. Apparently, "bully" dogs tend to have redder eyes. I'd just make a quick call to your vet to ask if you should bring her in.

Morgan's get red and bloodshot when she's really tired...like when we're outside ALL day long.
She just takes a long "siesta" and they're fine.

I do not want to sound stupied, but what is a bully dog? is it cause he is white? please don't laugh to hard:) I just love all information on this great breed.

sgbtab - DON'T QUOTE ME! My vet's assistant calls white boxers "bulls" instead of boxers and when I asked why, she said that white boxers are closer to the english bulldog breed instead of the fawn or brindle mastiff side of the boxer origin. I have no idea if there is any truth to this or not. But, isn't it true that englishes and mastiffs are in the boxers' background? As I said, I am NO expert, that's just what I've heard.

LOL - bully breeds are those breeds descended from bulldogs or bullbaiting dogs. This includes the boxer, the English and French bulldogs, American bulldog, bull terrier, 'pit bull' terrier, bull mastiff etc. These dogs all share some degree of common heritage in their bull-baiting ancestors, and also in terms of temperament - they're bullies ;)
