Boxer Pal
My dogs have food allergies. Manly to wheat products and corn. My question is does anyone have any good recipes for treats that are okay for dogs with food allergies?

Unfortunately I don't have any recipes at all but you can buy products without corn or wheat. The treat that my dog goes crazy about is banana. I use banana to train him right now. I got advice from this forum to freeze banana or apple and they works wonder for training the dog. I even put mashed banana in the Kong for him. I usuall give him banana, apple, carrot, guava and papaya.

Good luck

Chopper is the same way with grains. He would get SO sick after he ate Milkbones. I make these for him (with out the cornmeal) but I use Rice flour instead of White Flour. My husband calls them his 'crack cookies' because he will do ANYTHING for them

Snickerpoodles

1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup honey
2 eggs
3 3/4 cup white flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup cornmeal
2 teaspoons cinnamon

Mix vegetable oil, shortening and honey together until smooth. Add eggs and beat well. Blend in flour, baking soda and cream of tartar. Knead dough until mixed well. Shape dough by rounded teaspoons into balls. Mix the cornmeal and cinnamon together in a bowl and roll balls in mixture. Place 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet that has been sprayed with a nonstick spray. Press the balls down with a fork twice going in 2 different directions or press with your favorite stamp. Bake 8 minutes at 400. Remove from baking sheet and cool on a rack. Yield: 36 pieces.

Just replace the wheat and corn meal with something else. Rice flour works well, but there are lots of other flours that you can use as well.
