My sister lives in North Carolina and she sent me this recipe. We have made it twice and the dogs LOVED them. Also, they're so easy that it's a great one to get the kids to do.

2 cups wholewheat flour
3 tablespoons oatmeal
1 egg
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2/3 cup beef or chicken broth

Place all in a bowl and mix well together until it forms a ball of dough.

Roll out to 1/2 inch thick on a floured surface. Cut into small squares.

Arrange on a microwave tray or greaseproof paper and cook on high for 10 mins

Allow to cool and keep in an airtight container.

Here are some tips from me -
The american cup = 250ml, ie, fill a jug with dry ingredients to the 250ml mark.
I used beef oxo cube for the broth. The next batch I used Knorr ham cube.
I used a crushed clove of fresh garlic
My microwave is 850watt and 10 mins was too long. I did 9 mins.
I cooked them in 2 batches.

Mind your hand doesn't get bitten off in the rush to grab them!

Tha receipt sounds interesting, I might have to try it.

Helen,

Thank you so much for sharing your recipe. I can't wait to get home from work and make some for my Chelsea. Chelsea loves her "treats" and definitely knows the word. My husband and I have to spell the word or she starts "bouncing". We have been concerned with the quality of store-bought (loaded with junk) and talked about trying to find something more natural.

You are a life saver! Thanks again:D

hmmmm, oscar loves things like that too! but here is another one:
make ordinary dough:
flour,
water, etc.
Then, cut up small amounts of meat (cooked thouroughly)
roll and cut the dough into strips and place a bit of meat in the middle
roll up and put any type of topping or extra filler on the top,
(oscar prefers cheese)cook in the oven at a nice, low temerature,
or microwave for as long as u like, as the dog may have a different taste when it comes to heat, or texture. I usually do it until the cheese is melted,
then cool in the fridge 5+minutes, or for a pre-prepared treat, freeze, then defrost at a desired time (before expiration) I luv trying out new recepies for Oscar! thanx 4 your suggestions!
