Recall & Attention Issues

My 10mo old Boxer, Ruby has a very short attention span, or I am just not interesting enough. She has extreme trouble with recall (on lead outside, off inside). We've been through training class and she is wonderful on all commands - verbal and nonverbal. I don't know if anyone else has had their boxer do this, but lately she is ignoring me. She'll still obey the commands, but turn her back to me and sit. I first thought that it was because she was distracted in the environment, but now i don't know. I have used treats to get her to turn around, but it's getting really hard to train her to recall if she sits with her back to me. Ugh. These boxers and their strong personalities.

Your Boxer is going through the rebellious "teen" stage. Hang in there and be persistant.

LOL-yeah,but at least you don't have to save for college or worry about drugs!

That's true!! There is enough debt with toys and treats and training and doggy day care. I swear we should be able to claim them on our taxes

Ruby is brilliant with recall in the house or garden but whens shes out playing with her pals she's useless, she is way too excited! I still havn't found an answer to this one!
