Emma is almost three years old now. She has been going through hives about once a week. My wife and I are worried. She went into the vet for severe hives all over her body a few weeks ago, two days ago her eye swelled up, this morning she had bumps all over her neck. We gave her Benedryl which did help. I hope it doesn't get worse. I am assuming it is part of the breed. It is strange my brothers boxer Fin (Emma's brother) never has problems with hives or allergies. He is inside the house almost all the time: I can't figure it out. Any ideas from anybody.

Not sure if you use air fresheners or not but my boy is allergic to various Bath and Body Work Scents. Nutmeg Spice was brutal on him and it took us a couple weeks to figure out that is what it was.

Try to think back to what changes were made...however small they might be....around the time she started breaking out.

They can be allergic to the strangest things. If the hives have just recently started try to think of anything that has recently changed.

Lana for example is allergic to dryer towels and anything we dry with them.
I never used them until my mom gave me some and sure enough lana's face got all swollen. it went down with benadryl but the moment we stopped it started all over. It took us quite a while to figure out it was because I dried her blanket with one of the dryer sheets.
Good luck

Is there anything that can be biting him or a new med. he's on??!!!! It's so hard to tell what it could be.... have you tried a food switch? Food allergies can be quite common. You can ask your vet for allergy tests if you can't figure out the source on your own! ;)

My Crystal was allergic to bees and certain other insects. I kept a bottle of Benadryl that I would get from the vet in the cupboard at all time. I never worried about the dosage amount because the bottle had her name on it and the amount to give. The first couple of times that she was stung her face and tongue swelled up so large that she was having difficulty breathing.

You have to be careful with this, dogs can do into anaphylactic shock just like humans!

We rushed her to the emergency vet the first time for the $175. shot of benedryl. The next time to the regular vet the shot was much cheaper, and he told us to always keep a bottle of benadryl at home for her. She had reactions later, but none like the first couple.
