I am going to print out some info about RAW and its benifits and such to give to people that snub thier noises and try to convise me it is not good. I am SOOO sick of hearing about the germs that are on my dogs now and how I am doing them wrong. I am stressed enough without everyone being a critic. Please help.....I am ready to inform inform inform, but I always get toungue tied and feel as if I am defending myself instead of explaining it correctly.

Honestly, I find myself holding back unless someone approaches me about it. Most people you talk with don’t really care enough to make the switch and you can see them dig in their heals and eyes roll back in their heads when I start to explain. Of course my close friends and family heard all about it!! I don’t need others approval to take better care of my dogs so sometimes it is easier just to let it go.

Seriously.. just ignore them. I get soo much crap from my family (they do it just to annoy me, they see she looks great and loves eating it) about feeding her raw. I just say she is MY dog and this is they way she will eat. She will NOT eat dry pellets morning, noon and night. Then I ask if they would like to eat human pellets every day for the rest of their lives All that usually shuts them up

Honestly, how on earth do people manage to handle their own meat? Germs-Salmonella, Ecoli, WORMS, fungus, mold, etc are everywhere! What about peple that have kids that go to school? Can you image how many germs a group of little boys playing outside or at a playground must come in contact with?

I am far more concerned about germs on stair railings and door knobs or the communal computer keyboards at work that I am about the 1lb hunk of meat I feed my dog every night. Goodness sakes! It's like people don't even THINK! And this comment above from the vet- for pete's sake. What kind of health "professional" is that??

My thoughts exactly!! Come on now. Dogs lick their butt. Imagine the germs there. People never worry about that when their dogs are licking their face.

I just practice safe food handling and alway clean up with a bleach solution after handling meat. I am comfortable in the fact that I am doing the best thing I can do for my dogs. I feed my pups high quality, human grade food. Can they say the same for their dogs?

LMAO--a valid point to bring up when someone questions how "germy" your dog's raw diet is! you crack me up! I don't feed raw...yet?...I have been lurking in the BARF forum alot recently to try to learn more about it...and it is beginning to interest me....hmmmm...??? I am not so sure I could convert my DH....

My husband was all uptight about it too but he got over it. I don't tell most people about feeding raw. I don't want to end up getting attacked about something I've probably spend 1000x more time and energy than they've even considered for their own diets much less their dog's. If they cared as much as I did then they'd be feeding raw too. End of story. I will however offer advice when it comes to dog food, mentioning all the WDJ brands and why the other ones don't hold a candle to them. Then they know that I've done a good bit of homework. So i/ when they ask what I feed it seems more credible rather than some crazy hippie going back to mother earth way of feeding.

And that may start the enlightenment! That's how I got started on raw... the more research I did into canine nutrition the more I learned about how bad kibble was for dogs... then it was just a matter of time
