Hey my boxer Weston who is 8 months loves to fish with me which is a good thing because we live a the lake. A few months ago I caught a small Perch so I gave it to him to see what he would do and he ate it in two bites...he never got sick and since then he is all over me when I catch fish.

For about 3 months we have been feeding him as a snack raw fish skin which he loves he just devours it and his coat has become very smooth and shine which is a good thing...The other day someone told me that he shouldnt eat raw fish or raw fish skin as he will get worms, I asked the vet and she said the raw fish and raw fish skin is okay for him to eat and he is very healthy with no worms...

So I am not sure what to think I trust the vet but I dont want to give Weston worms, any advise or suggestions?

The only fish you need to worry about is salmon from the west coast. It can contain a salmon fluke that can cause problem. As long as the fish has been frozen at 0 F. it won't be a problem either.

If it is fish that you catching in Saskatchewan, there shouldn't be a problem. Feed away! :)

Thanks.....

You got it just fish from Saskatchewan...Pike, Walleye and Perch...The fish is usually caught and he will get the skin pretty much 10 minutes after we catch it.....So its pretty fresh and pretty clean...
